Tree Hive

Hi All

After a year of patiently waiting (something the bees are trying to teach me all the time), the Tree Hive in our apiary at Heligan has finally colonised. They have built this comb from scratch in the space of 10 days. It’s just amazing to see, and they are so calm too. Not sure where the swarm came from? The swarm that was checking it out a few weeks ago when we had our first inspection, ended up going off somewhere else. Maybe they changed their minds?

Just reward for those of you who braved the near freezing conditions in Feb ’18 to help construct this tree hive. Hope many of you can make it down to the apiary over the summer to come and have a look for yourselves.

Kind regards

Simon
